Organic design
Organic design is a direct move away from the toxic chemicals and greenwashing that corporations use to make us think their products are safe and instead emphasises natural materials, shapes and textures that occur in nature into our indoor environments so that our interior spaces are healthier, safer and flowing with positive energy.
“At last interior design is moving rapidly away from the increasingly corporate, nature starved, greenwashed styles of design and instead towards growing a safer, nature rich approach to how we interact with and design our living spaces.
— MUDEARTH

Interior Greenwashing
Fast fashion isn’t a term limited to clothing, it’s also a huge issue in the building and interior design world and we are getting dangerously close to relying on corporate brands to form our interior design choices.
Look at the paint industry, every year now we must follow the latest trend in paint colour, or god forbid, we look dated and out of style.
These sudden twists in interior design trends are not created by chance, as where’s there are trends to follow, there is money to be made.
“Fast interior design, like fast fashion is literally dulling our senses, and intoxicating our bodies and our homes.”
— MUDEARTH
Urban
dust
With millions of pounds being pumped into marketing for paints alone, what the paint companies don’t want us to know is that particles of paint account for more than half (58%) of all the microplastics that end up in the world’s oceans and waterways every year.
And it doesn’t just stop with our oceans as the UK has some of the highest farmland concentrations of microplastics in Europe.

Painting by
Numbers
The toxic truth the paint industry doesn’t want you to know.
58%
Of all microplastics found in our oceans come from paint.
0.01
it’s estimated that each cubic metre of seawater contained an average of 0.01 paint flakes.
30
Producing just 1 litre of paint can result in up to 30 litres of toxic waste.
“An estimate from the world economic forum states the number of microplastics that find their way to the ocean every year by way of paint flaking from just steel surfaces alone is equivalent to the plastic of 150 to 225 billion empty plastic bottles.”
— WEF (World Economic Forum)
Along with the damage paints cause to the environment, they also act as a carrier of pollutants and heavy metals which can cause physical damage to our respiratory systems, disrupt our hormones and weaken our immune systems, and more so, microplastics have also been found to contribute to the growth of antibiotic resistance.
Studies have even detected the presence of microplastics in the human bloodstream, human breast milk and the placentas of pregnant women. And in research released just last year from Hull university, microplastics from paint have been found in human veins.

But why?
The paint industry is aware of the harmful effects of microplastics on the environment but does nothing to actively reduce its emissions.
Why? Well it’s about the bottom line and profit and using plastic polymers (where the microplastics come from) are a super cheap way to make their paint.
Why
Choose
Our
Paint?
While plastic-based paints create a toxic film that sit on the surface of your walls, mudearth paints penetrate deep into the pores of your walls, allowing your home to breathe and create a natural humidity system in your space.
And unlike many corporate bought paints that peel, crack and fade over time, mudearth paints becomes stronger and more beautiful as they age.
This is because the natural materials in our paints naturally react with carbon dioxide in the air, forming a hard and durable surface that can withstand wear and tear.

Not just a label
Mudearth paints are not just labelled natural, they are natural. Derived from abundantly available natural minerals which have zero added chemicals and zero toxins.
We also make each batch of paint specific for each customer, so there is zero waste and complete individuality.
And unlike other paints, natural paints like ours have a long history that weave through many different cultures, which won’t damage the environment, you or your home.
